Privacy policy

Effective · Stillbyte LLC

The short version

  • This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads nothing from other companies.
  • Our host, Cloudflare, handles the technical data every web request carries (such as your IP address) to deliver and protect the site. We have not turned on request logging and do not keep these records ourselves.
  • If you email us, we use your message only to answer it.
  • We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
  • Every Stillbyte app gets its own section in this policy, published before the app is released, saying exactly what it collects.

1. Who we are

Stillbyte LLC (“Stillbyte”, “we”, “us”) publishes this website and the apps and open-source projects released under the Stillbyte name. We decide how and why the personal data described here is processed, which makes us its “controller” under data protection laws such as the GDPR.

2. What this policy covers

This is the page our app listings link to as their privacy policy.

3. This website

What we do not do

The site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no embedded videos, maps or social buttons, and no forms. Its pages, styles, images and icons all come from stillbyte.dev itself — your browser does not contact any other company while you read it.

What our host processes

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. on its global network. As with any website, delivering a page means Cloudflare’s servers receive the standard information that comes with every request: your IP address, the address of the page you asked for, the date and time, and the technical headers your browser sends, such as its type, version and preferred language.

Cloudflare processes this information on our behalf to deliver the page and to protect the site and its network from abuse; it describes its own handling in its privacy policy. We have not enabled request logging for this site, so we do not receive or store these request records. In Cloudflare’s dashboard we see aggregated statistics, such as the number of requests per day, which do not identify you. If Cloudflare’s automatic security protection blocks or challenges a request, it may keep a short-lived record of that event, which can include the IP address.

Legal basis (where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies): our legitimate interest in running a website that works and is secure (Article 6(1)(f)).

4. Email

If you write to one of our addresses, we receive your email address, your name if your email program shows it, and whatever you put in your message and its attachments. We use this only to read and answer your message and to deal with what you asked for — for example, to help with an app. We do not add you to any mailing list.

Email is delivered and stored by the email service providers we use, acting on our behalf. We keep messages only as long as we need them to handle your request and to keep a reasonable record of it, and then delete them. You can ask us to delete your correspondence at any time.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us, or, where you ask for help with something we provide, taking the steps you asked for (Article 6(1)(f) and (b) GDPR).

5. Our apps

As of the effective date of this policy, Stillbyte has not yet released any apps. Each app we release will have its own section in this policy — or its own page linked from here — published before the app becomes available. It will state, for that app:

The same answers will appear in the app’s “App Privacy” details on the App Store and its “Data safety” section on Google Play. Where an app’s section is more specific than this general policy, the app’s section applies to that app.

6. Open-source projects

Our open-source projects are published on third-party code hosting platforms. If you take part in a project there — open an issue, comment or send a contribution — that platform’s privacy policy applies, and what you post there is public. Contributions you send become part of the project’s public history under its licence.

7. Who we share data with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only:

8. International transfers

Our service providers operate internationally, so your data may be processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection rules. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on recognised safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses included in our providers’ data processing terms.

9. How long we keep data

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live — for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, California or another US state with a privacy law — you may have the right to:

To use any of these rights, write to privacy@stillbyte.dev. We will answer within the time the law sets (for example, one month under the GDPR) and may need to confirm that the request really comes from you. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined in California law, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer anything about you.

11. Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 (or the higher age set by the law where they live). If an app is designed for children, its section will say so and explain how it follows the rules that apply. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, tell us and we will delete it.

12. Security

The most effective protection is not collecting data in the first place, so we keep what we hold to a minimum. The website is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS) with strict security settings. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach ever affects your personal data, we will inform you and the authorities where the law requires it.

13. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects how an app handles your data, we will also say so in the app or its store listing before the change takes effect.
