Still Studio and All Quiet privacy
Still Studio and All Quiet collect nothing. What they see stays on your Mac.
What happens on your Mac
Still Studio listens to macOS’s own notices that a camera or a microphone started or stopped. When a camera starts, it reads macOS’s log of the last few seconds once, to learn which app it was. It never sees or hears the picture or the sound — only which app, and when.
The mirror uses the camera only while it is on screen; the picture is never recorded or saved. The shelf keeps the locations of files you drop on it in a small file on your Mac; pictures or text dropped from apps are kept in a folder of their own for at most 7 days.
All Quiet reads which apps are open and how much memory they use, only when you open it.
What leaves your Mac
Nothing of yours. No account, no analytics, no advertising identifiers, no crash reports. Both apps check for updates by downloading a small public file from updates.stillbyte.dev; the request carries the app’s version, like any download, and nothing about you. The update server counts how many update checks it gets per day; it stores no addresses.
